Steven Wasson and Corinne Soum combine the experience of having been students and assistants of Etienne Decroux, and having taught, developed and directed Corporeal Mime with their Company and School for over 20 years. The Theatre de l’Ange Fou’s International School of Corporeal Mime offers the possibility to study Corporeal Mime in depth from a creative point of view.

Students are trained in an ensemble situation, and individual progress is carefully supervised throughout the year.

The training method in the School has two goals:
• Technical excellence
• Artistic and performing development.

Students will learn the precise and specific vocabulary and technique relevant to Corporeal Mime, giving them an incomparable tool to express themselves theatrically. They will be challenged in learning to develop their own personal performance material.

Students work in a theatre company atmosphere, collaborating with one another and working towards a common goal: building shows and projects together. The Artistic and technical work of students is presented at the end of each term, culminating in the end of the year school performance. Students will find at the School the perfect environment to build a future career through personal supervision, encouragement and help in learning to share ideas. At a later stage, if invited, there is the opportunity to take part in a professional production of the Theatre de l’Ange Fou.

The School Spirit
The School believes in the combination of technical achievement and artistic realisation.Unlike other approaches to teaching, the International School of Corporeal Mime does not offer a myriad of different theatrical disciplines disconnected from one another. The School offers the possibility to study in depth one discipline: Corporeal Mime. Through a number of different approaches from Technique to Improvisation, Repertoire to Composition and from theory to history, the student will strive to experience a deeper understanding and assimilation of Etienne Decroux’s conviction: Mime is the Art of The Actor.

Commitment
Classes are taught by Steven Wasson and Corinne Soum, assisted by Kentaro Suyama and by members of the Theatre de l’Ange Fou, all graduates of the School. All our programmes are flexible. Enrolment is open throughout the year, at the beginning of each month, and we will do our best to consider every individual need in order to make all programmes accessible to potential students. The duration of study at the International School of Corporeal Mime is open and adaptable to personal requirements. A student’s decision to pursue further training can be discussed with the teachers anytime during the school year.
